Autumn is the season for delicious, homely baking and what better accompaniment to that
than a lukewarm apple pie? This pie is extra special because we use Fruitlife apple pieces
Morgenduft, which give it a deliciously fresh taste and a perfect texture. Morgenduft apples
have a fine balance between sweet and sour by themselves, which makes them ideal to
incorporate into a pie.
As a base, we use a creamy frangipane made from almond paste, butter and sugar. The soft,
nutty flavour of the frangipane goes perfectly with the freshness of the apple pieces. You start
with a crispy base, followed by the layer of frangipane and top with the lightly caramelised
Fruitlife apple pieces. Bake the tart in the oven until it is nicely golden brown and let it cool for
a while so it is lukewarm when serving.
Serve this autumn cake with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an
extra treat. Ideal for a cosy afternoon with friends or family over a cup of tea or coffee. Easy
to make, but oh so delicious and fitting for autumn!
